What exactly are Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers? Simply put, dermal fillers are injectable forms of stabilized hyaluronic acid that restore volume to the face and neck. Unfortunately, as we age, the skin loses the plump appearance of youth. These injectables fill and lift these areas under the skin to help correct lines, wrinkles, and hollows, and can be used to make the lips fuller.

Dr. Nguyen uses multiple brands of Hyaluronic Acid fillers including: Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero, Teosyal and Revenesse, allowing her to customize your treatment with the best possible filler for your unique needs.

Time Required to perform:
It usually takes no more than 30 minutes to perform a Hyaluronic Acid filler treatment.

Side Effects:
Side effects are rare but may include swelling, redness and tenderness at the site of injection.

Risks:
Hyaluronic Acid fillers are a safe product. Hyaluronic acid is not considered a foreign substance to the body since it already exists naturally, so there is no risk of a skin reaction.

Duration of Results:
Hyaluronic Acid filler results are immediate and can last between 6-12 months and sometimes longer, depending on which filler has been used. This can vary between patients depending on things like age and area being treated. Because the hyaluronic acid is a natural substance and dissolves over time, many patients choose to have follow-up injections within a year of their initial treatment.

Recovery:
There is no downtime associated with Hyaluronic Acid fillers. Recovery is immediate, although it's possible for patients to experience slight redness, swelling, tenderness or itching at the injection site. This may last for just a day or two, and does not pose a serious inconvenience for many patients.

Insurance:
Due to the cosmetic nature of Hyaluronic Acid fillers, insurance usually does not apply.

Discomfort Level:
Virtually none for most people, maybe minor discomfort at injection site.

Anesthesia:
None usually required, although Dr. Nguyen offers the option of using topical numbing creams or numbing injections.

Can Be Combined With:
Commonly combined with Botox® for enhanced results.

Also Known As:
Injectables, fillers, lip fillers, wrinkle removal, facial rejuvenation, restalyne (common misspelling).
